Lived In & Loved – with Cammy Peters, Interior Content Creator

This month we chat with Content Creator Cammy Peters. She shares her top tip for styling Gumnut Green and lets us know all about #myaustralianinterior, the hashtag showcasing some of Australia’s best interiors’ accounts.

Tell us about yourself, your page @cammyalana_ and My Australian Interior.

I started @cammyalana_ as an outlet whilst at home with my youngest. I’ve always had a love of interiors and styling. Then it's just evolved over the years and I now work with some amazing small businesses across Instagram.

The #myaustralianinterior hashtag is an initiative developed alongside Ash from @ashleejayinteriors, Shannon from @ourperthreno and Tash from @ourcosyabode_ . The hashtag is something all interior loving pages can add to their posts, then at the end of each week we feature a page that has used it to create a little exposure. Just something a little fun 🙂

Your Instagram page showcases a beautiful palette of blush paired with neutrals – what attracts you to this colour scheme?

I have always loved pink, just different shades of pink. Growing up it would have been fuchsia - now it's a dusty pink.  It goes beautifully with most other colours and is very feminine and chic, which is how I would describe my style.

We’ve also noticed you love accessorising your interiors – what are your favourite pieces to accessorise with?

Layers. Layers create a cohesive and styled looking whilst adding depth and personality. You'll always find cushions and throws on my bed in, often in different tones depending on the bedding.

What’s your favourite part of your bedroom?

Where our bed is positioned; it looks out to a nature reserve. Council can't build on this land, so the tall trees are beautiful and very calming

How do you relax and unwind?

Definitely with a coffee or a glass and wine and some background music. Music in general just calms me. I always have it playing,

How do you create a work/life balance?

It’s definitely about time management. Though with 3 kids, sometimes I just have to get work done when I can. I think it’s important to create a space just for you. Grab your cuppa, set a timeframe and decided what work you would like to get done during this time. Don't overwhelm yourself.

How have you styled Gumnut Green – and why were you drawn to it?

I’ve pulled the pink, green and neutral colours from the quilt cover and incorporated them in my cushions and throws. I wanted to add a little green into my bedroom styling and was drawn to this print as it has touches of pink also.

What’s your lived-in and loved item – can you tell us why it’s so important to you?

I’m not a sentimental person and my parents weren’t either, but something my mum kept (and what I’ve kept from my 3 kids) is their baby blanket. Mine is pink and frilly and has the potential to come back in fashion. It’s special and it’s mine and it smells like one of our homes growing up. I haven’t kept too many things from my kids either but I have their first baby blanket stored away with mine.

Can you share a bedroom styling tip?

Draw from colours in your bedding for your cushions. That way it all ties in and there's not too many colours overloading the space.
